If you have questions about Porcelain Veneers, this post is for you. We answer the most common questions about it.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Very different than Dental Implants, the veneers are a very thin layer of porcelain that bonds to the teeth surface, they help change the color and the shape of the teeth permanently, so if the patient has worn-down teeth, which can happen by age or any other condition, like grinding teeth (bruxism) or tetracycline staining, we can get the patient back to a healthy, normal, and beautiful smile, with a permanent bright smile.

What is the difference between Veneers and Crowns?

Veneers are very thin layers of porcelain, about 0.5 mm bonded on the outside surfaces of the teeth, they can change the color and the shape of the tooth. These are a much more conservative treatment and preserve the natural structure of the teeth.

Crowns require shaving the whole teeth all-around 360 degrees which leads to much more loss of the natural teeth structure and more invasive preparations of the teeth which can lead to the need for root canal therapy the teeth or extreme sensitivity of the teeth.

What are the process?

In our practice Dr. Nahlah performs Veneers in 3 visits, these visits are done in 3 weeks.

The first visit is the smile design, during this visit Dr. Nahlah and his in-house lab designer meet with the patient and design the future smile of the patient as well taking initial records of photographs of the face and smile of the patient. Dr. Nahlah will spend many hours with his lab designer in his in-house state-of-the-art digital lab to craft a personal smile for each patient. Once this design is ready, the patient will be scheduled for the second visit, during that visit Dr. Nahlah will perform a mock-up of the designed smile and show it to the patient before performing the veneers, so the patient has the chance to review their smile before the procedure is done, at this stage any alteration of the design can be performed easily and retry in the patient mouth until the patient is completely happy and satisfied with the design, then Dr. Nahlah will prep the teeth,  take a final scan (digital impression ) and put temporary veneers that will be a copy of the final design.

The patient will wear these temporary veneers until the final are ready.

Final porcelain veneers will be made in our in-house state-of-the-art lab so we have the full capacity of crafting beautiful veneers with high-quality porcelain and an amazing look.

In the third visit, Dr. Nahlah will remove the temporary and bond the final permanently.
